3 Hours Before Flight Time
Upon arrival at Casablanca International Airport, our journey begins with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque outside of Mecca. We’ll then experience the beautiful Corniche coast before departing for Rabat, the capital of Morocco. In Rabat, you’ll explore historical landmarks such as the Mausoleum, the Hassan Tower, and the Oudaya Kasbah. Overnight accommodation will be provided at Euphoriad or a similar bed and breakfast establishment, where you’ll enjoy a welcome dinner with dinner, bed, and breakfast included.
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll embark on a journey from Rabat to Fes via Meknes and Volubilis. In Meknes, the Ismaili capital of Morocco, you’ll marvel at the fascinating Bab Mansour gate, built by Sultan My Ismail, as well as the granary and the Sahrij Souani, utilized for irrigation and plantation.
Next, we’ll explore Volubilis, the remarkably preserved Roman empire dating back to 225 BC. You’ll have the opportunity to admire some well-preserved mosaics that are still in excellent condition.
Continuing our journey to Fes, we’ll pass through the countryside and the foothills of the Rif Mountains. Upon arrival in Fes, you’ll be accommodated at Riad Fes, Hotel Sahrai, or Palais Faraj, where bed and breakfast will be provided.
After breakfast in your riad, let’s kick off our exploration of the cultural capital of Morocco, strolling through its winding alleys and charming streets. Our adventure begins with a visit to the Royal Palace, followed by the Jewish quarter and the first Mellah ever built in Morocco. We’ll ensure you don’t miss any sites of cultural and historical significance, including the renowned Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region, and the fascinating tanneries.
After a delightful lunch, we’ll head to a ceramic factory, where you’ll witness artisans at work and enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Medina of Fes. In the afternoon, we’ll take a trip to the new city for a refreshing drink.
You’ll spend the night at the same riad as the first night, with bed and breakfast provided.
After breakfast at your riad, you’ll depart from Fes, heading towards Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco”, and then onward to Merzouga via Azrou and the Ziz Valley. Along this scenic journey, you’ll catch glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains.
Our first stop will be at Azrou, a Berber village nestled within the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you might have the chance to spot Barbary apes. As we continue, you’ll notice the landscape gradually transforming, offering hints of the desert as we approach the city of Errachidia.
The journey proceeds to Merzouga via the Tizi Ntalghamt pass, with stops along the luxuriant Ziz Valley for panoramic views. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll be warmly greeted with a glass of mint tea before checking in to Riad Serai or a similar accommodation. Dinner, bed, and breakfast will be provided.
After breakfast in the riad, it’s time for an adventurous exploration of the area. First, we’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally brought from Sudan as slaves, to immerse ourselves in their unique music and lifestyle. Nearby, we’ll discover the serene beauty of Lake Merzouga, home to various bird populations.
For those interested in Berber handicrafts, a visit to the nomad wire house awaits, where you’ll find authentic treasures at prices lower than those in the big cities. In the afternoon, it’s time to embark on a camel ride guided by an experienced camel man, delving into the vast sand sea of Merzouga.
As the sun begins to set, prepare for a breathtaking experience witnessing the golden hues of the dunes. Our overnight stay will be at the Itran Royal Camp, where dinner, bed, and breakfast will be provided.
If you’re up for it, we can rouse you bright and early to catch what could be the sunrise of a lifetime. After soaking in the morning hues, you’ll peacefully trek back to the village of Merzouga, taking in the ever-changing beauty of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes as the day unfolds.
Following a hearty breakfast at the riad, we’ll set off for Rissani, Tinghir, and the Todra Gorges – renowned as the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. Lunch amidst the heart of the gorge will fuel our journey, as we traverse the Dades Valley. Here, you’ll marvel at the majestic sand castles and the intriguing rock formations aptly named “monkey toes”.
Our route through the Dades Valley, known as the way of the thousand kasbahs, offers countless opportunities for capturing stunning photographs. We’ll make a stop at Kalaa M’gouna, also known as “the rose city”, where you can purchase rosewater, leaving your linen with a delightful scent long after your journey ends.
By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Skoura for an overnight stay at Kasbah Ait Ben Damiette. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner, followed by a peaceful night’s rest. It’s the perfect way to recharge for the adventures that lie ahead. Dinner, bed, and breakfast are included.
After a satisfying breakfast at the Kasbah, we’ll kick off the day with a visit to one of the most iconic symbols of the region: the 17th-century Kasbah of Amredil, standing proudly amidst the oasis. Our journey continues through Skoura and the bird valley, where we’ll explore the well-preserved Kasbah Ameridil, offering insight into the area’s rich history.
Following some invigorating hiking in the valley, we’ll pause for lunch at a charming restaurant with panoramic views of the entire valley. Then, it’s off to Ouarzazate, often dubbed “the Hollywood of Africa” for its stunning geography and landscapes that have lured numerous world-class movie producers.
In Ouarzazate, you’ll have the option to visit the studios, where you can spot props used in renowned films like The Mummy, Gladiator, and The Last Temptation of Christ. After a day filled with exploration and cinematic wonders, we’ll settle in for the night at a local riad. Enjoy a delightful dinner, followed by a comfortable night’s rest at Riad Ksar Ighnda. Dinner, bed, and breakfast are included.
After breakfast at your riad, travel to Marrakech Through the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah and the Tizi Ntichka Pass over the high Atlas Mountains. Your first stop will be at Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. It was built by Et Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains during the 18th century, now a house of many Glaoui people. Your journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’tichka Pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains, before arriving in Marrakech. Following a hearty breakfast at the riad, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Marrakech, also known as “the red city of Morocco.” Your knowledgeable guide will lead you to the most significant historical and cultural landmarks, ensuring you don’t miss a thing. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a restaurant near the bustling square, then spend the afternoon discovering the serene beauty of Marrakech’s gardens, including the enchanting Majorelle Gardens, the tranquil Menara Gardens, and the iconic Koutoubia Tower.
As evening descends, dine at your leisure before venturing out to explore the lively atmosphere of the Jemaa El Fna Square. Here, you’ll encounter a fascinating array of performers, including magicians, storytellers, snake charmers, and food vendors, creating an unforgettable sensory experience.
Retreat to your accommodation for a restful night’s sleep, ready to continue your Marrakech adventure the next day. Your overnight stay will be at the same location as the first night, with breakfast included.
